Christmas break! - The story so far...

It's been a mixed start to the season for SUHC, with the highs of our Women's 4's winning all their BUCS games so far, and our Men's 4's also remaining undefeated in the league, to the unfortunate defeat in the cup for our Men's 2's after reaching the final last year.

After recovering from the shock of the bus fire for SUMHC, the incredible response of help and aid that was offered to us during that period was unbelievable, and we will be eternally grateful. After raising thousands of pounds in mere days, this money was essential to the rebuilding of our club. Whilst our insurance claim is still in the works, the support has been their to any members who have financially struggled to replace kit and possessions.

With all teams progressing to the next round of the cup, the Women's club have had a fantastic start to the year, and with players soon to return from injury, it seems as if the second half will be even better. Having scored 24 goals, and only conceding 4, the 4's have been on fire this year, with a notable pre-varsity victory over the Hallam 3's. This victory was repeated by the 5's a few weeks later, and the two teams sit 1st and 2nd in the league.

It's been a tough start to the 2016/17 season for the Men's club, with tough losses to Hallam mixed with unfortunate results away from home, however on a brighter note, the 4's are still undefeated in league and cup, and are in with a real chance of clinching the Tier 5 trophy. The 1's have recorded 3 straight wins against MMU Cheshire 1's in just the first half of the season alone, and have been very successful up top, scoring 24 goals so far, not taking into account the 4 goals that were scored after 30 minutes in a postponed Northumbria 1's game.

The second half of the year will bring challenges throughout the club as we try to emulate an astonishing haul at varsity last year. From all at SUHC, have a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
