Varsity 2017 summary
Varsity 2017:
An overall mixed set of results for the club as SUHC take half the points on offer - 3.5/7 points.
At Abbeydale, the women's 1's claimed an incredible fightback after going 2 down at the 40th minutes, but came back to brilliantly win 3-2, and the women's 2's also completed an awesome comeback from 1 down to win 2-1. The men's 1 grabbed a fantastic first goal, but then lost the lead and subsequently the point after a late onslaught gave an unfair scoreline of 1-5. The men's 2's also got the first goal in their game, but unlike last year they weren't able to get the win as 2 further goals from Hallam won them the point with a score of 1-2.
At Goodwin the women's 3's fought back after going down a goal, and a late goal salvaged the draw after we put a p-flick on the post. The women's 4's easily dispatched Hallam as they ran wild and smashed 10 past them to finish the game at 10-0. The men's 3's went two behind at the half but a short corner goal was only a consolation as Hallam went and scored 3 more to finish the game 1-5.
Overall however, the University of Sheffield won varsity for a 5th time running, and whilst the summer break is well deserved for the club, we will come back next year fighting!
